Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke has opened up about his reasons for having children at the age of 50. The professional dancer, who is now 54, was 50 years old when he and his wife Hannah Summers welcomed twins George and Henrietta in 2017. During an appearance on Steph's Packed Lunch on Wednesday, Anton was asked about supermodel Naomi Campbell becoming a mum at 50, which was announced earlier this week. Discussing his own reasons for having children later in life, he admitted that selfishness played a part in his decision not to have kids at an earlier age as well as the fact he didn't feel "emotionally and financially ready." "I couldn't imagine doing it any other age, of course, because I haven't," he shared. "I wouldn't have been ready for it earlier in my life. "The earlier part of my life was very very strictly on me. I wouldn't have been ready for number of reason, that reason, financially - children can cost you a few quid!" Presenter Steph McGovern, 38, went on to speak about how she was considered a geriatric mum by doctors when she was pregnant with her daughter in 2019, and Anton shared that Hannah was also given that label and added that it was "cruel" to use that term, especially as it's more common for women to have babies in their late thirties nowadays. Anton and Hannah previously revealed that they struggled to conceive as she suffers from endometriosis, and a successful round of IVF led to them having the twins.
